In January 2018 my friend Daniel and I spent three weeks travelling from east coast to west across southern India. We live in different states and don’t get to spend much time hanging out in person, so we try to make time to travel together when the opportunity arises. We went to Malaysia for two weeks in October 2016 and walked the beautiful Larapinta Trail in central Australia in June 2017.

It was my first time visiting India and Dan’s third. He’d been invited to give a talk about memory (one of his areas of expertise) to students at Chennai’s Anna University. We spent the three weeks beforehand exploring cities, beaches and high inland hill stations in the country’s south. This is a record of our travels.
